Chad proposed a bike ride to Dave--from their house through the wetlands to the beach. I was taken along as photographer. For handicapping reasons, Chad threw two little boys in the back of a kid rickshaw.

I circled round and parked in order to catch them on the paved trail through the wetlands. Chad said he couldn't stop because it wasn't a scheduled water break.
I drove to Balboa Island, and waited for them near the ferry (a sample, above). I kept thinking I've lived here nearly 20 years and have never taken the ferry, nor been on Balboa Island proper. There's a first time for everything.

Andrew loved throwing the sand, so we gave him a cup to dig and delve. . . and throw.
Alex worked on his castle, his back to Andrew the Destroyer, who was intent on breaching the parapets.
We had fun racing the waves, touching our toes in the water. A good luncheon at the beach with the Boys (all four).
