Spring Break, part I • Eastmonds

My Spring Break was spent visting family. Here's a sequential narration of the trip, because it's too long to put in one post. The desert is in bloom, and I thought a lot about abundance as I drove. This barren landscape looks like nothing more than rocks, dirt, heat and insects at first glance. But in spring, after some good rains, the color blossoms forth in trees, plants and tiny flowers along asphalt roadways. I also thought a lot about Richard, a bonafide desert rat if I ever knew one. He would have enjoyed the flowers, I think. Meanwhile, back in Riverside while out on one of his bike rides, Dave was noticing the same phenomena and snapped a few with his cellphone.
